About Amy Brown
While Amy Brown’s original dream was to be a stay-at-home mom, she eventually decided to return to school as the needs of her family changed. “I always had a desire to care for people,” she says. That interest increased during the last year of her dad’s life, as he experienced many inpatient visits. “I saw the value in the staff/providers that took the time to not only care for my dad, but did so with compassion.”
Amy earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Indiana University South Bend, South Bend, IN, and her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner at Goshen College, Goshen, IN.
In her role as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Amy performs physical exams, diagnoses and treats diseases and other health conditions. “I not only consider the physical symptoms, but also the emotional, social and environmental factors that affect a person’s well-being,” she says.
Her patients have taught her the power of active and empathetic list...

In her own words…
Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My father and mother
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? JCPenney – helping coordinate suits, ties and dress shirts
What is your favorite food? Movie? Chips and salsa. I love good, clean action movies
What was your best/worst subjects in school? Spelling and math were my best subjects. Worst was probably history, but my dad was my history teacher and he was known to be one of the hardest teachers.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? Corrie ten Boom. She and her family hid Jews during WWII and she lived a life of faith, forgiveness and trust in God’s plan, even in the difficult times.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? My children, stepchildren and my precious granddaughter
What are your hobbies, interests? Hiking, outdoor adventures, the beach, traveling and cooking
Do you have pets? Just fish.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I played the tuba from elementary through high school. I chose that instrument in 5th grade, because I wanted to play the biggest instrument the school had. I stuck with it until the middle of my high school years.
