About Samuel Huxley, MD
About Dr. Huxley
For Samuel B. Huxley, MD, his interest in medicine began early, but became a true calling when he saw the difference a dedicated physician could make in patients’ lives. “I chose this career to be part of that impact—helping people navigate their health with care and understanding,” he says.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis (St. Louis, MO). His Doctor of Medicine degree is from Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, WI). Dr. Huxley completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Emory University School of Medicine (Atlanta, GA) and followed that training with two fellowships: a Cardiology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Corewell Health – William Beaumont University Hospital (Royal Oak, MI). He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

In simple terms, he helps people with heart disease by opening blocked arteries and restoring blood flow to the heart muscle using small balloons and stents. “I was drawn to this specialty because it combines hands-on precision with the chance to make a life-changing difference in real time,” he says. “I make it a priority to listen carefully and put my patients at the center of their care because they are the most valuable resource in their treatment.”
In his own words…
Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My father has been the most influential person in my life, not just for his guidance in medicine, but for teaching me a strong work ethic, the importance of integrity and how to approach life with curiosity, compassion and perseverance.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My first job was as a bagger at the local grocery store. I remember working alongside friends in high school and learning early lessons about responsibility, teamwork and managing money.
What is your favorite food? Movie? What was your best/worst subjects in school? Food – Italian. Movie – Shawshank Redemption. Best subject – science/math. Worst subject – art.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? Dr. Andreas Gruentzig: he is one of the founders of interventional cardiology and it would be fascinating to hear about his career and future aspirations in the medical field.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I am passionate about quality improvement projects, specifically how to make things more efficient and productive. Outside of work, I enjoy golfing, cooking and spending time outdoors.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I am a huge Packers fan (unfortunately!).
