About Tracie
Tracie Belcher knew she wanted to be a nurse when she had a tonsillectomy in the sixth grade. Thirty-two years later, she still loves what she does. Today, as a nurse practitioner, she works at Goshen’s MedPoint location. “I enjoy the fast pace and variety of urgent care,” she says.
Prior to this, she served at Elkhart General Hospital for 26 years, where she provided care in such areas as open heart recovery, cardiovascular operating room, post anesthesia care unit and she spent time with patients in acute pain service.
Her career began in the Syracuse, New York, region, where she worked as a nurse after earning her Associate Degree in Nursing. She eventually returned to the South Bend area and continued working in hospitals. After nearly 20 years out of the classroom, she returned to Goshen College where she earned her Registered Nursing and Nurse Practitioner degrees.

In her own words…
Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My husband for always believing I could do this and for his patience and support through this journey. My mother for being my constant source of encouragement and love.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? Translating
What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? Best: science and math; Worst: social studies
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? My grandmother. I was not able to say goodbye and I would like to thank her for being such an important part of my life.
Do you have any hobbies? Pottery, biking, gardening, rock handling, road trips
Do you have pets? I have a chocolate lab.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I love rocks!
