Ashley Armbruster, DO

Dr. Ashley Armbruster is a double board-certified surgeon in general surgery and surgical critical care, specializing in trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, and the care of critically ill surgical patients. She earned her medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colorado. She completed her general surgery residency at Beaumont Hospital, Farmington Hills, from 2016 to 2021, followed by fellowship training in surgical critical care and trauma surgery at MetroHealth in Cleveland. Her practice is primarily focused on acute care surgery, including the evaluation and treatment of patients with traumatic injuries and urgent surgical conditions, as well as the management of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. She performs both traditional and minimally invasive surgery and has a particular interest in using robotic surgery for emergency procedures when appropriate. She also maintains an elective general surgery practice. Dr. Armbruster believes that patients should remain active participants in their care, even when illness or injury requires decisions to be made quickly. She places particular emphasis on helping patients and their families understand what is happening, why a treatment or operation is being recommended, and what alternatives may be available. Her goal is to help patients make informed decisions based on a clear understanding of their condition rather than fear or uncertainty, while providing guidance and reassurance during what can be an overwhelming experience. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Armbruster is actively involved in the education of surgical residents and medical students. She serves as faculty at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine and as her hospital’s representative to the Michigan Acute Care Surgery collaborative.
