About Cara Johnson, NP
About Cara Johnson
Inspired by her mother and grandmother who were nurses, Cara Johnson, NP, decided to pursue a second career in nursing and to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing before she turned 40. “Within four years I decided I wanted to continue onward and become an FNP,” she says.
Cara is a graduate of Chamberlain University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Family Nurse Practitioner degrees.
The decision to specialize in Primary Care came as a surprise to her. “Set on acute care, I was surprised to find myself really enjoying family practice and the relationship patients and their providers create built on trust and accountability,” she says.
Cara wants her patients to know that while choosing a provider can be daunting, she does her best to reassure each person she sees.
“I understand the responsibility I have to my patients, and I do not take that lightly,” she says.

Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My husband.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? I started working as a babysitter at 12, and at 16 got a job as a server at a health resort. I remember it paid well, and I was blessed to see all kinds of actors, actresses and singers.
What is your favorite food? Movie? My favorite food is Mexican. My favorite movie is NATIONAL Lampoons Christmas Vacation.
What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? I was always good at English but not particularly good at Physics.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? I would like to have dinner with my grandfather who passed away at 58, so I could see what he thought of how the world has changed in the past 40 years.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? I love history.
What are your hobbies, interests? I love to garden, go on vacation to new places, camp, go out on the lake and sit in the sun (with sunscreen of course) – any body of water.
Do you have pets? I have two dogs, DEOGI and Cheeva.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I am absolutely terrified of snakes and sharks. To the point where I am scared to get into the ocean for more than a few minutes.
