When Charbel Maskiny was in high school, he decided he wanted a career in medicine. Even though there was no one in his family in the field, he knew he wanted to help people.
Dr. Maskiny, born in Lebanon, attended medical school at Vitebsk State Medical University in Vitebsk, Belarus. He then came to the United States and earned a Master of Science in Biomedical Science at Medical University of Ohio at Toledo. His fellowship was completed in Pulmonary & Critical Care at Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He is fluent in English, Russian, and Arabic.
His philosophy in practicing medicine is to keep it simple. He said his patients, whom he wants to teach about disease prevention, have taught him the importance of kindness.
In addition to his work for Beacon, he is currently the Respiratory Program Director at IVY Tech, South Bend.
