Justine earned her Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry at Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, IN, and her Master of Social Work at Indiana University South Bend. She has experience as a rehabilitation services provider, clinical supervisor and residential program director at group homes and crisis centers.
In her role as a licensed clinical social worker she provides assessment and therapy to help identify those areas of difficulty, find new ways of coping and collaborate with physicians or community resources to support patients as they make changes in their lives, she says.
Justine’s approaches her work from a client-centered, solutions-focused lens. She believes strongly in a holistic approach. “There are many parts of us that make us who we are and, as a provider, I want to create a space that invites you to identify and live authentically as your whole person,” she adds.
In her own words…
Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My Grandma Ellet. She was the perfect blend of tenacity, patience and kindness.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My dad owned his own auto parts store and around age 10, I asked him to let me clean the building for $10 a week. I moved on to babysitting and, later, our local public library.
What is your favorite food? Movie? I enjoy a good cup of coffee and a good steak (usually not together). My favorite movie is Home Alone and I watch it every Christmas season.
What was your best/worst subjects in school? I enjoyed writing, especially creative writing. Geometry was my least favorite subject.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? Amelia Earhart – to hear her story and solve the mystery of her disappearance.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? I love to read and would describe myself as a life-long learner.
What are your hobbies, interests? I enjoy reading psychological thriller novels, listening to podcasts and music, taking walks in nature, going to concerts, spending time with my loved ones, traveling and finding new coffee shops.
Do you have pets? One kitten and two dogs - a Border Collie/Lab mix and a Pit/Lab mix rescue.
What is something most people don’t know about you? My favorite movie growing up was Free Willy and I’ve always been fascinated by Orca whales. I hope to travel someplace to see them in the wild.
