About Tyne
As Tyne Simpson says, "I didn’t choose medicine, it chose me!" It all started when a friend became an EMT and Tyne was inspired to do the same. Over time, her passion for the field grew and she transitioned from EMT to RN and eventually went back to school to become a Nurse Practitioner.
After working in the Emergency Department for several years, Tyne missed the fast pace and team mentality that is often found in a hospital setting. Family Medicine at Beacon seemed like a natural path in her career progression. "I like to joke that I was a part of Beacon before it was Beacon. I started at Elkhart General Hospital in 2004 and never left – after all this time, it still feels like home to me."
When it comes to her manner of practicing medicine, Tyne’s motto is: "Together, we will do our best to take care of your concerns." She believes in a team-based approach and treats her patients as she would her own family members. "I’m here to listen and understand. I pay a...

In Her Own Words
Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life? Growing up, my parents were my role models. Now the most influential people in my life are my children and my husband. Family is everything to me!
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember most about it? My first job was working at my parent’s math tutoring business. I started at age ten, grading math papers! I remember it being very monotonous.
What is your favorite food? Movie? I don’t have a favorite food – I enjoy many different foods. My favorite movie is The Gladiator.
What were your best/worst subjects in school growing up? I enjoyed school and learning growing up. I didn’t really have a best or worst subject.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased), who would it be and why? Hands down, it would have to be Jesus. I have many questions that I would like to ask him in person.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I am passionate about not becoming mentally stagnant. I try to read at least two books on varied subjects every week. I enjoy reading, cycling and spending time outdoors with my kids, husband and dogs.
Do you have pets? Yes! One dog named Murphy.
What is something most people don’t know about you? While I am a clumsy klutz most of the time, I am a great rollerblader. I’ve been rollerblading since my childhood, and I still enjoy it!
