About Brij M. Dewan, MD Brij M. Dewan, MD, is a gastroenterologist who cares for adults with a wide range of digestive health conditions. He has a special interest in Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, peptic ulcer disease, colon cancer and bowel disorders. Dr. Dewan provides care for both preventive and ongoing gastrointestinal health needs, helping patients manage chronic conditions and maintain their overall well-being. Dr. Dewan has served as Chief of Kalamazoo Gastroenterology Hepatology since 1982. He is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine and has devoted his career to caring for patients with digestive health conditions. Dr. Dewan completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and a residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He also completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Irwin Hospital in New Delhi, India. Dr. Dewan earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical School in New Delhi, India. In addition to English, he speaks Hindi, allowing him to communicate with and care for patients from diverse backgrounds. Outside of the office, Dr. Dewan enjoys following current events, playing pickleball and traveling with his family.
