At 8 years old, Jessica Puckett, DO, decided to be a veterinarian because she loved science and animals. Her interest later shifted to working with people. “When I was in high school, I shadowed physicians and the shadowing helped me see that this is what I wanted to do for life,” she says.
In her specialty, she helps women manage their reproductive health at all ages. “As an OB/GYN, I have the best of both worlds,” she says of her love of delivering babies and also helping women with other health needs.
Dr. Puckett earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiology at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie, PA. She completed both her Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Garden City Hospital, Garden City, MI.

Dr. Puckett hopes patients see her as open minded to different treatment options and know that she tries her best to explain and answer questions.

Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life?My parents were my role models. They taught me to work hard and strive to be the best that I can be. They were a huge support while in college, medical school and now.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My first job, outside of babysitting, was at McDonald’s. It taught me a lot about customer service, multitasking, hard work and getting along with a variety of people.
What is your favorite food? Movie? Favorite foods: I love chocolate, especially dark chocolate. My favorite “real food” would be a really nice piece of grilled fish with a citrus beurre blanc sauce. Favorite movie: I don’t know if I have an actual favorite movie, but I enjoy most movies.
What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? My best subjects were math and science. My worst subject would be art, as I am very critical of my artistic ability
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? I would love to have dinner with my father again. He died when I was in medical school, so he was unable to see me graduate. My father was such a great person. He taught me so much – about being a good person, being myself and being the best I can be. I would love for him to meet my family and to see him again.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and traveling.
Do you have pets? I have one dog, Stella, she is a 6-year-old Havanese.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I like the Disney Villains and I have sketches of the Villains in my office at home.
