About Danielle Russo, MD
While Dr. Danielle R. Russo is the first physician in her family, her parents’ careers shaped her. “My parents both being teachers has led to my love of primary care and teaching the basics of how to care for ourselves and others,” she explains. “Their love of ongoing learning and curiosity is what I bring to my study of medicine.”
Dr. Russo earned her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Practice at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Family medicine is ideal for Dr. Russo, who enjoys connecting with patients and sharing information about many conditions. “Family practice, particularly in a rural area, allows involvement with several generations of family and truly the full gamut of what a doctor can do.”
This career has taught Dr. Russo many lessons that she shared with patients. “Take the time you need to take. It’s not about the end goal – life is about the pathway there. Get into counseling...

In Her Own Words
Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life?
My parents were great role models.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it?
I worked in the mall at a Hallmark card store. I remember not being well focused on what I should be doing, and I had to spend a lot more time than I thought I would making enough money to buy my next lip gloss.
Do you have any pets?
I have two rescue recycled dogs now in a blended household. They are so loving but dumb. And a cat.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased), who would it be and why?
My parents, just to keep figuring out how they did it and get more advice.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests?
Travel to national parks, dance and meditation.
