About Daniela Zehr-Butler
As a little girl growing up in Bolivia, Daniela Zehr-Butler, CNM, remembers playing nurse and putting Band-Aids on her young siblings. Her first exposure to a very sick infant who then later died, showed her first-hand the frailty of life. “From that point on, I learned the importance of education and vowed I would do my best to be an advocate for health in my community,” she says.
Daniela earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Goshen College, Goshen, IN. Her Master of Science in Nursing is from Frontier Nursing University, Versailles, KY. A Certified Nurse-Midwife, Daniela supports pregnant women and their families throughout their pregnancy and birth experience. She also provides well-woman care, preconception care, contraception counseling, perimenopausal hormone therapy, and other basic primary care. She is fluent in Spanish.

“I was first inspired to become a nurse-midwife during prenatal care with my first child. I was in nursing school at the time and had never heard of a midwife,” she says. “I hope to be a light in a complicated healthcare system, and may it be evident I work with compassion, grace, and a love for helping people live their healthiest life.”
In her own words…
Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? The foundation of every skill I have came from my mother; except for patience – that is thanks to my father!
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My first job was managing the stand at a U-pick peach orchard in southern Kansas. I loved riding my bike to the orchard and picking delicious peaches for customers. I know a lot about peaches!
What is your favorite food? Movie? I love all things grilled! Anything cooked over a firepit and s'mores for a great ending. When it comes to movies, I need a balance of action/detective movies and rom-coms.
What was your best/worst subjects in school? Best: biology Worst: chemistry and history
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? My Abuelo (maternal grandfather) who died prematurely of a heart attack before I was born. I would have loved to sing with him and have him teach me guitar.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I love to dance, especially while cooking in my kitchen! I enjoy being creative and crafting in all manners! I embroider, crochet, knit and sew... although my favorite thing is being a wife, and a mother to my three children!
What is something most people don’t know about you? I hate bananas!
