Nurse practitioner Brandon Hopkins turned a sports injury in high school into a career path that he loves. His journey from surgery through recovery gave him an appreciation for the field of medicine and how providers make a difference in people's lives. Brandon treats patients of all ages who need immediate attention for a wide range of common illnesses and minor injuries. "I help people when they are hurt or sick to feel better and recover faster," he says. He takes a team approach to care and encourages patients to take an active role in their health care. In his own words
Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life? My parents. They have worked hard, gave my brothers and me unconditional love, and were always willing to help whenever possible – not just for their kids and grandkids but others as well.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? Housing construction with my uncle. It was a great job, but the weather was often way too cold, hot or rainy. It taught me that I wanted a career indoors!
What is your favorite movie? Star Wars, of course. My favorite character is Chewbacca. Any movie that I can sit down with my family and eat some popcorn is a good time for me.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? Cooking on the smoker and flat top outside and trying new foods. Coffee, as well.
