About Megan Burson
Nursing appealed to Megan Burson, AGPCNP, as early as her high school health science class. It was then during her time in the Progressive Care unit at Elkhart General Hospital, that she found her calling in the specialty of cardiology. “It was there that I realized how drawn I was to caring for patients who were facing cardiac issues,” she says.
Megan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Huntington University, Huntington, IN, and her Master of Science in Nursing and Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. In her role at Beacon, she provides care, education and treatment management to patients who are facing cardiac issues and disease processes.
As a provider she is committed to caring for the whole person with dignity, curiosity and compassion. “Approaches to medicine should adapt to our patients — not force our patients to conform to medicine,” she says.

In her own words…
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My first job was at Cold Stone Creamery. I remember singing little jingles whenever anyone would put money in the tip jar.
What is your favorite food? Movie? Choosing a favorite food is so difficult! I love trying new food, but really enjoy Thai food, sushi, and chips and salsa. My go-to movie has always been "Father of the Bride".
What was your best/worst subjects in school? I never really loved math but always did well and enjoyed my science classes.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? I would enjoy sitting down with my grandfather whom I never got to meet. From all I’ve heard about him, he was very special and I’d love the chance to get to know him.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? Making delicious meals for my family and trying new recipes, growing beautiful flowers each summer, and being intentional with the people around me. I’m also passionate about a good secondhand bargain and finding humor where I can!
What are your hobbies, interests? I love spending time with my family and friends, cooking, gardening, taking long walks, listening to podcasts, and finding new restaurants around town.
Do you have pets? I have a cat, Fred, and a poodle, Phoebe.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I really enjoy singing and listening to/attending musicals.
