About Juliana Gonsalves

Growing up, Juliana Gonsalves, NP, enjoyed studying the sciences and mathematics. “From a young age, I have been fascinated by the medical field. I love how it's constantly evolving and expanding.”

Juliana earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Track, from Goshen College, Goshen, IN.

In her role as a nurse practitioner, Juliana provides holistic care by diagnosing illnesses, prescribing medications and other treatments, and creating evidence-based treatment plans for diverse patients of varying ages to treat acute and chronic health conditions.

In the ever-growing world of hematology oncology, Juliana believes in prioritizing the patient’s needs and well-being. “I believe in building strong relationships and fostering trust. Trust and strong rapport are essentials for providing excellent and comprehensive patient care,” she says, adding, “I emphasize educating patients and empowering them to take proactive steps towards their own health and well-being.”

Over the years, Juliana says patients have taught her to be resilient, compassionate, kind, and grateful. “I value shared decision making and want them to feel empowered and well-cared for.”

In her own words…

Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? My parents have been the most influential role models in my life, consistently providing unwavering support, and encouragement to reach my full potential. Now, my husband and son motivate me to continue growing and pursuing my goals and dreams.

What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? My first ever job was working as a certified nurse aide (CNA) at a long-term care facility. This job inspired me to go into the nursing field.

What is your favorite food? Movie? What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? Food: all foods from the Bengali cuisine Movies: Disney classics will always have my heart Best subjects: the sciences, mathematics and world history Weakest subject: English

If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? I always enjoy eating dinner with my mom. Her home cooked meals, our conversations, laughter and shared interests are what makes these dinners fun.

In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? My family and their well-being.

What are your hobbies, interests? I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy traveling, learning about new cultures, meeting new people, trying new foods, painting, reading, and occasionally cooking/baking.

What is something most people don’t know about you? Bengali is my first language.
