About Eric Kane, DO
About Dr. Kane
During his first year in radiography school, Eric Kane, DO, decided on entering a more extensive training program so he could practice medicine. “Prior to that, I was looking for a career change from photojournalism into the healthcare field so that I could be of a positive impact in the lives of others,” he says.
Dr. Kane treats adults over the age of 17 and has a special interest in chronic disease management and Lifestyle Medicine. “I will be caring for adults with varying degrees of medical conditions from the healthy and curious about the aging process to those with severe and numerous chronic medical conditions,” he says.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at Michigan State University; an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Radiography at Kellogg Community College; a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at Michigan State University; and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

In working with patients, his philosophy is that the patient is responsible for deciding whether or not they will follow through with his recommendations. “Their health is in their hands. I can educate and encourage, but I cannot live the patient's life for them,” he says.
Dr. Kane believes every patient deserves the same diligent effort and concern, but that each person must take it upon themselves to make changes necessary to improve their health if that is their goal.
In his own words…
Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life? While there have been many, my Program Director in Residency in Trenton, MI was very inspiring and influential. He exemplifies the kind of doctor I hope to become and I strive every day to be more like him.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? I became a newspaper delivery boy at age 12 working for the Battle Creek Enquirer. I remember the struggle of delivering the Sunday papers and how my dad decided to help me on those mornings.
What is your favorite food? Movie? What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up? Favorite foods: Middle Eastern food, particularly good falafel and hummus Favorite movie: The Big Lebowski Best subject: probably Human Physiology Worst subject: College Algebra gave me fits
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why? I’d like to sit down for a Roman Feast with Julius Caesar. His life is fascinating.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I’m passionate about creativity and all things related to that including painting, drawing, photography, gardening, cooking, etc. I’m also interested in history with particular interest in the classical Greek and Roman history and myths as well as pre-history – that time in the world before writing.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I used to play the Accordion.
