About Myron Bontrager, DO
No matter what job Dr. Myron Bontrager held, his passion for helping people never dimmed. That passion was especially strong while he did humanitarian work in refugee camps.
In numerous talks with his wife, the subject of school kept coming up, and many times he found himself mentioning that he wished he would have gone into medicine.His wife finally asked him, "why not? It's not too late." This started the process, and within the next year started classes at Indiana University-South Bend at age 27 in preparation for medical school.
After medical school, he realized how much he loved hospital medicine and internal medicine. He was able to learn new techniques, and he enjoys the variety of cases he sees day-to-day.
"At the end of the day, I hope patients know that I care about them and their issues," he said. "Sometimes suffering with someone, being compassionate, and giving your time to a patient is what they need most. After all, time is one of the most precious things we have."...
