About Julia Chairez, NP
The first in her family to pursue a career in healthcare, Julia Chairez knew from a young age what her career path would be. "My great-grandmother was an insulin-dependent diabetic," she explains. "I remember watching her prepare her insulin injections and being fascinated by the process."
As a family nurse practitioner, Julia treats people of all ages. She is passionate about patient education and preventative care services, and helps patients manage chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Julia has been with Beacon since 2010, when she when she started as an ER nurse. She chose Family Practice as her specialty because she saw a need for primary care providers in our own community. "Ideally I want to use my skills and knowledge to help my patients be as healthy as possible and stay out of the hospital," Julia says. "I love getting to know my patients and look forward to developing relationships and watching their families grow over time."

In her own words…
Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life? My mom has always been one of my biggest supporters.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember most about it? I worked in retail at an educational teacher supply store.
What is your favorite food? Movie? I love Italian food! I don’t watch much TV, but I do enjoy watching comedies when we aren’t watching cartoons with our kids.
What were your best/worst subjects in school growing up? I have always loved to read. I remember staying up late at night just to finish the last chapter, last book, etc.
If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased), who would it be and why? My great-grandmother. I remember growing up she used to tell us all about her life and the struggles she overcame. She passed away when I was 16 years old, and I wish I could have one more time to sit and listen to all of her stories.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I’m passionate about my children and my family. I have three little girls, and I want them to know that with hard work and dedication they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
Do you have pets? We have two dogs, Lola and Mia.
